about

The third tPROE demo album was very much a transitional album. While "Cumulonimbus" and "Thirst" were more or less devoid of direction and imago, this one was our first experiment with actually trying to say something. In these days we started to do live shows, and David (XLII) joined to do metal percussion. "Steel and honour" being the first "Political album" was from a time i first discovered and got interested in the music of Der Blutharsch and Von Thronstahl.

Offcourse doing what they do is not very original, so we chose for Stalinism and extreme communistic ideas as bleak desolate image instead of the crypto-fascism of DB and VT. I managed to lay my hands on some speeches of DDR leaders like Walter Ullbricht or Erich Honecker and some propaganda music. This all led to this album and our first live shows, on which we went on stage with the USSR flag, and hammers and sickles. Yes we did!

"Steel and honour" mixes the rhytmnic industrial which was introduced on "Thirst" with darkambient and martial industrial. We were pretty directionless in this stage of our career and this album shows just that. In hindsight it is a pretty incoherent album and in my opinion the weakest of the 4 demo-albums. Although i heard from a lot of people they like this as one the best from the first four. I leave the decision up to the listener i guess. Still this was a little breakthrough, because this album got us noticed in the Dutch industrial scene and some recognition abroad. We got booked for live shows, and "Zerstorers" did get some airplay and DJ play. This was the album on which we took off for the first time and actually got somewhere.
